REACH is the European Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. It entered into force in 2007, replacing the former legislative framework for chemicals in the EU.

REACH shifts the responsibility from public authorities to industry with regards to assessing and managing the risks posed by chemicals and providing appropriate safety information for their users. It impacts on a wide range of companies across many sectors beyond the chemical industry. It requires new forms of cooperation among companies, enhancing communication along the supply chain, as well as developing tools to guide and assist companies and public authorities in its implementation.

Objectives of REACH

The main aims of REACH are to ensure a high level of protection for human health and the environment, including the promotion of alternative test methods, as well as the free circulation of substances on the internal market and the enhancement of competitiveness and innovation.

“water-resistant,” “water-repellent,” and “water-proof”

What is the difference between “water-resistant,” “water-repellent,” and “water-proof” fabric?

Water-Resistant fabrics shed water because of their weave or because they have been treated. They will soak through in a heavy rain, however.

Water-Repellent fabrics are more effective than water-resistant fabrics. They are either very tightly woven or coated with a finish that causes the water to make little beads when it hits the fabric rather than going through. The finish may wear off over time or come off in drycleaning. Read the label to determine whether drycleaning is allowed. A silicone spray may rejuvenate the finish.

Water-Proof fabrics can not be penetrated by water and should keep you dry, even in heavy rains. They may be extremely tightly woven, such as a fine polyester/nylon blend, rubber or plastic or other non-porous material, or coated with a finish that makes them breathable but closed to water. Be sure to read the care label before laundering.

Introduction of China Import and Export Fair

China Import and Export Fair, also known as the “Canton Fair”, is established in 1957. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of PRC and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and organized by China Foreign Trade Centre, it is held every spring and autumn in Guangzhou, China. Canton Fair is a comprehensive international trading event with the longest history, the largest scale, the most complete exhibit variety, the largest buyer attendance, the broadest distribution of buyers’ source country and the greatest business turnover in China.

After 60 years’ reform and innovative development, the Canton Fair has withstood various challenges and never been interrupted. The Canton Fair enhances trade connection between China and the world, demonstrating China’s image and achievements of development. It is the best platform for Chinese enterprises to explore the international market and an exemplary base to implement China’s strategies for foreign trade growth. The Canton Fair serves as the first and foremost platform to promote China’s foreign trade, and a barometer of the foreign trade sector. It is the window, epitome and symbol of China’s opening up.

Up to the 119th session, the accumulated export volume has amounted to about USD 1.2 trillion and the total number of overseas buyers has reached 7.64 million. The exhibition area of one session totals 1.18 million m2 and the number of exhibitors from home and abroad stands at more than 24,000. In each session, about 200,000 buyers attend the Fair from more than 210 countries and regions all over the world.

In recent years, the Canton Fair has kept up with the times and followed the steps of China’s reform and opening up and China’s foreign trade development. The Canton Fair has been committed to drive the transformation and upgrading of China’s foreign trade and focused on specialization, market orientation, information application and global perspective. It also advances the smart model and green development. The Canton Fair is shifting from a single platform for export to a comprehensive one featuring business networking, display and negotiation, industrial communication, information release and product promotion, with bigger and bigger progress.

Screen printing vs. Digital printing

Screen printing involves creating a stencil (printers call this a “screen”), and then using that stencil to apply layers of ink on the printing surface. Each color is applied using a different stencil, one at a time, combined to achieve the final look.

Digital printing is a much newer process that involves your artwork being processed by a computer, and then printed directly onto the surface of your product. Digital printing is not a heat transfer or appliqu’e, as the ink is directly adhered to the fabric of your shirt. Each printing process has its strengths, and our artwork team will weigh these when deciding which to use for your design.

Screen printing is the best option for designs that require a high level of vibrancy, when printing on dark shirts, or for specialty products. The ink in screen printing is applied thicker than digital printing, which results in brighter colors even on darker shirts.

The fact that these products are printed by hand also allows for unique products like water bottles, koozies and mugs, as the printer can manually handle curved or uneven surfaces.

Digital printing is best used for items that require high amounts of detail, and orders of a smaller quantity. The fact that the digital printer does not use screens allows for a photographic print, with much more detail than traditional screen printing. As the ink is applied thinner (to achieve such detail), digital printing is best used on lighter colored shirts to allow the design to shine through. The fact that the design is processed and printed digitally allows for a quantity of one, since there are no screens or physical setup.

What is Silk Screening?

Screen printing is a printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the substrate momentarily along a line of contact. This causes the ink to wet the substrate and be pulled out of the mesh apertures as the screen springs back after the blade has passed.

Screen printing is also a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of polyester or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance. Ink is forced into the mesh openings by the fill blade or squeegee and by wetting the substrate, transferred onto the printing surface during the squeegee stroke. As the screen rebounds away from the substrate the ink remains on the substrate. It is also known as silk-screen, screen, serigraphy, and serigraph printing. One color is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multicoloured image or design.

There are various terms used for what is essentially the same technique. Traditionally the process was called screen printing or silkscreen printing because silk was used in the process prior to the invention of polyester mesh. Currently, synthetic threads are commonly used in the screen printing process. The most popular mesh in general use is made of polyester. There are special-use mesh materials of nylon and stainless steel available to the screen printer. There are also different types of mesh size which will determine the outcome and look of the finished design on the material.

How To Identify Genuine Leather, PU Leather and PVC Leather?

Genuine leather is mainly processed from animal skin fabrics. Currently, the most popular genuine leather on the market are divided into the dermis layer of skin (Nappa Leather) first and second layer of skin. First layer is closest to the surface, less disability from the finest raw hide of work, the natural leather surface of the well-preserved state, the coating is thin, can show a pattern of animal skins natural beauty, it is not only wear ,but also has good air permeability, is the presence in the upper dermis. The second layer of skin is relatively loose fibrous tissue layer part, by spraying chemicals or covered with PVC, PU film processed, its fastness to wear less, is kind of cheaper leather. In addition to the second floor there are three outer skins; three skins is the worst animal leather.

PU leather and PVC leather collectively referred to as artificial leather, as opposed to a kind of leather is called.

Polyurethane PU is an abbreviation in English, commonly known as the main component of polyurethane. PU leather with polyurethane component of the skin that, it has a light weight, toughness, waterproof, water swelling deformation is not easy, environmentally friendly, wear-resistant, easy care, with a certain air permeability characteristics.

PVC English name Polyvinylchloride, the main component of PVC. PVC can be divided into rigid PVC and soft PVC. PVC leather is softer than PVC. PVC leather with rich colors, patterns range, cheap, etc. but compared with the PU drawback of short life more brittle, hard, heavy odor, non-permeability, tensile strength small.

Bonded leather or reconstituted leather is a term used for partially synthetic leather. It is a synthetic material made of varying types of plastic (generally polyurethane or vinyl) that may be spread over ground-up leather and other substances, mechanically processed to give the appearance of leather, but at reduced cost and with less wastage compared to natural leather. Bonded leather can be found in furniture, bookbinding, and various fashion accessories. Examples of products that are most commonly constructed with different varieties of “bonded leather” are: books, diaries, art books, desk accessories, bags, belts, chairs, and sofas. The actual leather content of bonded leather varies depending on the manufacturer and the quality level they are selling. In the home furnishings industry there is much debate and controversy over the ethics of using the term “bonded leather” to describe a vinyl upholstery product.

Please refer to the quality sorting.

Genuine dermis leather > Genuine second layer leather > Genuine three layer leather > Bonded leather > PU leather > PVC leather

What Is the Difference Between Nylon and Polyester?

What Is the Difference Between Nylon and Polyester?

Nylon and polyester are both synthetic fabrics, but nylon production is more expensive, which results in a higher price for the consumer. Nylon also tends to be more durable and weather-resistant, which is why it is more likely to be used in outdoor apparel or gear. Both fabrics are flame retardant, but nylon is stronger, while polyester is more heat-resistant.
